Carved from Cedar of Lebanon with steel legs and talons, mounted on a natural oak perch with oak base. This just larger than lifesize sculpture of a barn owl has had its wings bleached to achieve the characteristic white colour of the under side of the owl the upper coloured with oils the bring out the natural colour of the cedar to mimic that of the owl.
Chainsaw carving is great fun, a very different discipline to hand carving but the result, albeit on a larger scale, can be surprisingly intricate. It is a very satisfying use of timbers and standing trees that, sadly due to damage or decay, need to be removed. A creative way to recycle a material. Numerous projects have been undertaken for a range of clients including local authorities, parks, buisnesses, private landowners and individual's private gardens.
Ornamental carving is the studios original style of carving and it has created many individual pieces of ornamental carved work over the last thirty years. The variety is considerable and includes: Architectural work, ecclesiastical carving, lettering & memorials, carved furniture, giltwood & ornamental framing, gilding & polishing and reproduction of carved works.
